The Supervisor, Planning for Design Build Engineering is responsible for overseeing the Design Build Trade Support team for the development of planning and scheduling of tasks to new construction at VSY. The Supervisor, Planning will provide leadership to Planners that are responsible for assembly plans, scheduling major equipment in support of program milestones and financial goals, production engineering, build strategy development, production process development, new materials analysis, and design for production.Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. What you’ll do Ensure adherence to schedules, engineering and production plans, resource profiles and schedules. Provide leadership to individual contributors in the execution of their job functions including employee mentorship, setting expectations, measuring performance, providing constructive feedback, communicating priorities, administering company policies, verifying timesheets, documenting skill gaps, identifying training requirements, and conducting regular communication meetings with members of the staff. Responsible for process development, documentation and improvement. Perform the duties of Planners as workload dictates. What you’ll bring A bachelor’s degree in a technical field of study is preferred. Trades Certificate combined with sufficient employment experience may be considered. High School diploma is the minimum requirement. Minimum 5 years shipbuilding experience Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Extensive knowledge of shipbuilding operations with a detailed understanding of the relationship between procurement, design, production and test operations.  Proficiency working with independent planning systems including Primavera P6 (nice to have) and Microsoft Project.  Experience using an ERP system in a large manufacturing environment. Knowledge of EVMS principles and their application in monitoring, reporting and controlling work activities.  Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service focus. Demonstrated initiative, creativity and integrity. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills. Excellent computer skills including Word/Excel/PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve. Good judgment and reasoning skills. Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member. Demonstrated leadership skills and desire to lead a team. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
