May 2, 2024BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR (BAND LEVEL 11)(Technology & Commercialization Advisor)Research Innovation Office (Contractual Position to April 17, 2026)The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approvalDUTIESReporting to the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, this position will actively assist in developing successful research collaborations between Memorial and industry; commercializing promising inventions developed through university research; and supporting entrepreneurial programming led by the Research Innovation Office (RIO). Duties include engaging with industry and industry associations to identify R&D challenges and foster research projects with Memorial; fostering interactions between the research community, industry, and government on a continuous basis; establishing relationships and working closely with faculty, students, and staff to identify innovations at an early stage; assisting with developing strategies for research commercialization, including R&D funds, startup formation, industry collaborations, and licensing; conducting market research for university inventions; formulating commercialization strategies; promoting university inventions to industry; bringing deals to closure; monitoring license agreements for compliance; and performing other related duties as required.RIO is a hybrid office and this position is included under Memorial’s Remote Work Arrangements (RWAs).QUALIFICATIONSExperience (3-5 years) in research and development; or equivalent placement in a technology transfer organization dealing with sensitive intellectual property matters and licensing in an industry or academic setting.
