Human Resources Coordinator Due to the labour-intensive nature of the greenhouse industry, the position of Human Resources Coordinator has great value to every aspect of the company. Creating a positive atmosphere, encouraging and enforcing safe work practices, and developing growth and development plans all while remaining an approachable and confidential resource are critical to the role. Reports to: Director of Employee Engagement Reviews conducted by: Director of Employee Engagement OVERVIEW - Provide support and guidance to employees and management on current policies and procedures - Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act - Work closely with all managers to resolve any HR-related issues - Track and maintain any training needs, vacation, sick time, and employee evaluations - Promptly deal with issues that are brought to the attention of HR; proactively identify employee situations before they become a problem - Update and maintain employee files as needed - Complete and maintain all policies and procedures - Organize company events (with managers) RECRUITMENT & SELECTION - In cooperation with the relevant manager, arrange the hiring of all employees - Deliver training to new employees including onboarding, orientation, health and safety and worker awareness training, company policies, and WHMIS training - Maintain the Temporary Foreign Worker program for the farm (including conducting tasks required to keep our offshore employees’ status current and bringing in new offshore employees) EMPLOYEE RELATIONS - Utilize the review tracking form to coordinate the planning portion of reviews - Inform the proper personnel when a review is due, provide a timeline for the review, and sign off on review upon completion - Attend every employee evaluation conducted (including three-month reviews for new hires, six-month reviews, and annual reviews) - When relevant, provide the employee with a self-evaluation to be completed prior to the scheduled review HEALTH & SAFETY - Responsible for continually developing, promoting, and sustaining the occupational safety program - Follow procedures designated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code - Maintain membership of Joint Health & Safety Committee - Conduct scheduled Health & Safety inspections with a worker representative (including the temporary foreign workers’ houses) - Complete WSIB claim paperwork (Form 7) as needed and ensure a speedy safe return to the work place; manage the early return to work process - Develop and implement the appropriate policies and procedures; review policies as required - Discuss safety training needs with staff and ensure workers receive appropriate safety training - Ensure the organization is fully compliant with all relevant legislation ADDITIONAL TASKS - Weekly update meeting with the Operations Manager - Weekly meeting with growers to discuss labour needs - Offshore worker housing inspections - Coordinate monthly health and safety walk-around - Coordinate with growers for employee functions - Monthly meeting with senior management - Maintain employee files - Train employees as needed - Regularly interact with employees while they are working (identify gaps or concerns, set a model of approachability for employees, understand workplace environment)
