KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for receiving all raw material trucks and materials - weighing, unloading, cleaning, and parking trucks Shunters are required to move and dump any and all trailers that are parked in the yard. Monitor daily dispatch sheets to prioritize dumping of trailers to ensure drivers have the required trailers for their run. Ability to work in tandem and coordinate the dumping, draining and cleaning of trailers with another shunter. Required to maintain a clean and orderly receiving area Ensuring that shunt trucks, fleet tractors, and trailers are maintained in a clean and presentable conditions Ensure safe driving operations Accurate completion and submission of all required paperwork: receiver documents, weigh tickets, HACCP forms, etc. Responsible for following all company and health and safety rules and for communicating all reportable incidents Responsible for effectively and efficiently dealing with issues that may arise including other duties, including plant duties, as assigned This is only a summary of the primary responsibilities and may be amended as necessary based on the needs of the business Must be able to handle the physical demands of the department Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Class G drivers' license Provincial Secondary School Graduate Diploma or greater Must be flexible to work shifts as required Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team Strong commitment to Darling's company values Physically able to perform the work Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA and other federal, and provincial standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA and other federal, and provincial standards Ability to keep up with physically demanding tasks such as repetitive bending, pulling, pushing, lifting etc. Walking, standings and moving for prolonged periods of time Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs Ability to maneuver 200kg drums as required Endurance for consecutive multi drum and for dumping workload Must be able to climb onto truck trailers, climb truck ladders as required and stretch and view difficult areas Must be able to push/pull to connect hoses to trailers Ability to drive trucks within the yard safely and carefully Ability to focus for moderate periods of time while driving in the yard, dumping/filling trailers, accurately completing paperwork Typical of a food manufacturing plant environment including high volume of raw material smell, changeable weather and temperature conditions.
