Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Field Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Department Manager, this position is in our Elk Valley, BC. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role. position is eligible for living allowance Regular site visits and coordination with Client/Contractor Project responsibilities requiring the ability to establish good working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Provide engineering technical support to the field during construction, including responding to RFIs from construction contractors, issuing Site Instructions and performing field reviews Review Wood design drawings and specifications and become familiar enough with design documents to monitor contractor construction activities to ensure compliance with design. Attend daily construction meetings with client and contractor. Write daily and/or weekly field engineering report monitoring progress and any activities performed. Review contractor Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) Review geotechnical and HDPE piping test reports to ensure compliance with Wood specifications. Inspect civil construction and survey documentation to ensure contractor is following engineering design. Correspond with Wood design team. Provide site instructions based on actual field conditions different with design drawings under the supervision of Lead civil engineer. Review contract as-built documentation Civil Engineering Degree from a recognized university with designation or ability to register as a Professional with EGBC 5 - 10 years of relevant industrial engineering experience at various stages of the project life cycle Capable of developing creative yet practical solutions and is open-minded to alternative solutions. Willingness to travel to remote field locations Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume and deadline-driven environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills. Positive attitude and ability to effectively work in a multi-discipline team atmosphere is imperative. Strong attention to detail and accuracy Committed to continual improvement and achieving engineering excellence. Demonstration of specific experience with aspects of Project Engineering and/or Project Management roles including ownership of overall project scope, schedule and budget management would be considered an asset. Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
