Our current Bookkeeper is retiring, and we are looking for someone to take over her duties.

Job Type : Part time or casual

Job Summary: The Bookkeeper is responsible performing daily posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. You will also be responsible for checking the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings of business transactions recorded by other associates on your team.

You will have the opportunity to develop strong working relationships with our CEO, CFO, customers, and drivers (our internal customers), to ensure our numerical data and financial records are adequately classified and complete. Additionally, you will interface with various benefits vendors such as medical, workers compensation, CRA etc.

Additionally, you will assume an office administrator role, in which you will need to display excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You are not afraid to participate in meetings and collaborate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, and maintain general ledgers
  • Calculate, prepare, and process payrolls
  • Manage HST Remittances and Payroll deductions, IFTA, Carbon Tax etc.
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, and other government documents
  • Truck Registrations/permits
  • Manage payables and receivables
  • Prepare other statistical, financial, cashflow and accounting reports
  • Ability to work independently and in a team to meet required deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with multiple different clients/departments at any given time
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
  • Provide full-cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and pre-audit prep.
  • Maintains files; maintains a secure back-up copy of the QuickBooks file.
  • Prepare correspondence as necessary, and other administrative support duties as required.
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, allocations.
  • Processes deposits.
  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly reports.

Required Skills/Abilities :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work across departments to arrive at accurate recordkeeping
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, especially EXCEL
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • attention to detail
