Accounting/payroll Technician

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Review Hourly and Salaried Ontario Payrolls
  • Prepare Hourly and Salaried Ontario Payrolls when required
  • Act as a resource for all payroll-related matters
  • Prepare off-cycle payroll and special payments
  • Perform year-end processes for the division, including (but to limited to): preparation of T4, reconciliation of accrued vacation and preparation for the new year
  • Prepare payroll month-end GL entries and accruals
  • Assist the Chief Accountant with different tasks, including (but not limited to): bank accounts reconciliation, control list, payroll GL reconciliation
  • Answer and provide samples for internal and external auditors on payroll-related items
  • Any other related duties

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience :

  • College (Cégep) degree in accounting
  • 5 years of experience in payroll
  • Highly proficient in computer skills and technology
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (French and English)
  • Strong clerical, administrative and general office skills including attention to detail and rigor
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills including ability to prioritise and multitask effectively
  • Knowledge of UKG Pro and SAP is an asset
