Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Avionics Simulation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate simulation and integration of avionics components and systems across various simulation applications. This role will involve working on a diverse range of projects, from autonomy algorithm development to operator training.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze simulation needs across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and define appropriate simulation requirements.
  • Lead the design and development of advanced simulations for diverse applications, including single- and multi-agent scenarios, early requirements validation, embedded software development, and operator training.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy advanced simulation capabilities related to aircraft and ground segment avionics.
  • Cultivate and develop departmental expertise in avionics and avionics simulation.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to identify simulation system requirements, plan milestones, and deliver critical tools/capabilities to support product development.
  • Organize and advance end-to-end simulation development efforts to support long-term autonomous air-taxi Concepts of Operations (ConOps).
  • Work with agile teams to manage the development backlog and ensure the needs of internal groups/IPTs are met.
  • Define and fulfill long-term simulation requirements, including certification aspects of the simulation platform.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with and integrating aircraft avionics in a real-time simulation environment.
  • Experience with ARINC 429, ARINC 664, and ARINC 708.
  • Proficiency in setting up and working with HIL/SIL simulations and test environments.
  • Familiarity with aircraft systems, aircraft dynamics, and aircraft operations.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Strong software architecture design and development skills.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) and scaling simulation applications in a cloud environment.
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, C#, or Java.
  • Prior experience with the design, development, test, and certification of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs).
  • Prior experience working as an Integration Specialist on FSTDs.
  • Familiarity with FAR Part 60 (FAA) or equivalent regulations.
  • Prior experience with ARINC 615, ARINC 610, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, or CAN Bus.
  • Prior experience developing embedded avionics software.
  • Prior experience with DO-178, DO-254, or similar certification standards.
  • Familiarity with MBSE and MBD tools and methodologies.
  • Prior team leadership and/or management experience.
  • Prior project/program engineering and management experience.
