Distribution Engineer

Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking a Distribution Engineer to work on an 18-month contract with very high potential of renewal, for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.You will work within the Vancouver Island Distribution Engineering Team to deliver capital projects and program.. The professional engineer or geoscientist will apply engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.Location : Victoria - Hybrid (2 days in the office)Responsibilities:All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the Distribution System.Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, including the more challenging and unusual, by developing engineering techniques, devising new approaches and/or applying existing criteria in new waysProvide technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of equipmentProvide support to the Regional Engineering team - perform load flow studies, calculate fault currents, perform protection coordination studies to evaluate the impact of new large customer connections to the System.Provide device settings for Voltage Regulators, Reclosers, Switched Capacitor Banks, and Switchgear relays.Determine system fuse sizes and work with customers to coordinate protective devices. Requirements:A minimum 5-6 years of in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.Registered with EGBC as P.Eng.Able to perform site visits in vancouver island and stay overnight (as required)Utilities Or heavy industry experience is an assetDegree in Electrical Engineering recognized by universities in Canada, Power Engineering preferredDemonstrated experience and technical knowledge in both Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kVFor more current job opportunities, Follow MatchBox at linkedin.com/company/matchbox-recruitment/ _________________________ About MatchBoxHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is one of the leading recruitment and solutions firms that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
