Peeters Mushrooms Farm is a family-owned operation that has been serving communities with high quality mushroom product for 40 years. Peeters is excited to add a member of our team in the position of: Harvest Supervisor

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensuring employees follow company Food Safety Plan (SQF Code)
  • Food Safety and Quality concerns must be immediately addressed with SQF Practitioner
  • Be a contributing member of the SQF Team
  • Assist with training and orientation of all new employees, specifically how to properly harvest mushrooms, quality standards, SQF standards
  • Assist with ongoing training of existing employees and agencies, specifically how to properly harvest mushrooms, quality standards, SQF standards
  • Ensure employees follow Health and Safety procedures (i.e. PPE and GMP policies)
  • Complete SQF checklists as required
  • Communicating key information to the President/Owner, Harvest Manager and Sales Manager daily.
  • To provide daily organization of the Harvest Department in such a way to achieve maximum yields and quality
  • Ensure all production gets to the coolers as quickly as possible to achieve best possible quality.
  • Complete Deviation Reports and be involved with Corrective Actions
  • Complete checks of the rooms on an on-going basis to ensure you are maximizing harvest opportunities with the current staffing levels
  • Ensure that the Room Supervisor and Harvest Transporters are completing tasks on time, within the requirements set by the department and SQF Practitioner
  • Quality control - auditing harvested product, testing to ensure product meets quality standards
  • Track attendance and exceptions to regular scheduled work, complete forms for late and EL days, assist employees in completed time off requests and submit to Human Resources. Work with Human Resources to resolve attendance related issues.
  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained in the harvest rooms and halls by keeping them free of debris and ensuring the harvesters are practicing safe picking techniques
  • Ensure all employees, including agency employees are conforming to the hygiene GMP’s as set out by the SQF Practitioner
  • Other tasks as assigned by the President/Owner, Harvest Manager and Manager of Human Resources, SQF and Health & Safety.
  • Scanning barcodes to record harvester data.
  • Ensure hallways and work area is always kept neat and clean.
  • Estimate production on the mornings and before shifts ends on daily basis
  • Communicate to the sales department any variation that is in 3 to 5 days

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Able to lift and carry 10 to 20 lbs
  • Computer knowledge (Windows, Excel, Word)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Positivity in interactions with employees
  • No education required
  • Experience an asset but not required

Salary : From $18.00 per hour
