Reports to: Welding Shop Manager Shift: 14x14, 12 hours Location: Labrador City, NL Relocation: This position does not offer relocation The Welding Inspector/Quality Assurance Technician, Shop will be responsible for performing or assisting in a variety of quality control and inspection work, ensuring that all standards, processes, specifications, codes and regulations are met for overall customer satisfaction.Responsibilities: Coordinates and maintains the Joy Global Canada Quality Control program and manuals. Conducts inspection of individual scope of work in progress and at completion to resolved repetitive rework and determine root cause. Complete various NDT inspections of large mining equipment and components at customer mine sites and in our repair shop. Compile reports of these findings to be submitted to customers for review. Coordinates, compiles and files all documents from the various projects and ensures that all requirements of the Quality Control program are completed in a timely manner. Coordinates document and quality control to ensure quality assurance goals are maintained. Assist in maintaining CWB paperwork and compliance. Assists in determining processes and process improvement. Executes the inspection and signoff of projects and worksheets. Documents processes to ensure overall project consistency. Maintains relationships with third party inspectors. Controls all welder records and logs and verifies welding is completed as per approved CWB. Provides quality control updates to customers and team as required. Complies with standards and procedures of the Joy Global Health and Safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Qualifications: Journeyperson Trade certificate or equivalent experience with practical knowledge of supervising welding/fitting operations. Minimum CWB Level I Certification / CWB Level ll Certification an asset. Possesses conversant knowledge of CWB requirements. Possesses the ability to interpret engineering specifications. Ability to provide accuracy and detail in projects and reports. Possesses intermediate computer skills, specifically with MS Office. Ability to work effectively with team members and yet be independent and self-reliant when completing tasks. Demonstrates interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Demonstrates initiative and is a proactive problem solver. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Demonstrates efficient organizational skills and the ability to thrive well in a deadline-oriented environment. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks quickly. SAP (preferred), Excel, Word, email knowledge required. Valid driver’s license is required. Bilingual an asset.
