Skilled Laborer

Aerotek is hiring a skilled laborer in a Shipyard Opportunity to move into a trade, industrial painting or welding Description: The Skilled Laborer will assist with vessel drydocking, shipyard maintenance, cleaning of equipment, and other general labour duties as assigned. Main Job functions: • Dock and undock vessel (Drydocking ground crew) • Operating forklift (must be Forklift certified) • Working in confined spaces • Doing grinding on vessels (bending, reaching, climbing) • Maintenance of equipment, e.g. wash and paint equipment • Ability to understand and cross-train on various functions at facility such as welding, grinding, paint • Keep shipyard, work stalls and equipment neat and organized • Follow tools maintenance testing and repairs procedures Must Have: • 1-2 years’ experience with hand and power tools (grinders and drills) • 1-2 years’ experience Counterbalance Forklift and Certification • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps, heat, wind) • Ability to work in confined spaces • Ability to lift 50lbs Nice to Have: • Welding Experience • Fitting Experience • Rigging experience Soft Skills: • Strong safety mindset • Quality oriented • Strong problem solving abilities • Needs to be responsible • Positive team attitude. • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
