Epson’s Vancouver Design Center (VDC) is a global leader in the development and support of semiconductor and quartz-based sensing devices targeted towards low power computing solutions.

Our engineering team, with extensive IC, FPGA, MATLAB, and system level experience, have been delivering products to our customers since 1990. We currently focus on Display (Automotive & Embedded Markets), MCU and Sensing solutions. In partnership with other Seiko Epson technology, marketing, and sales groups worldwide, VDC is playing a key role in these exciting, emerging markets.

Job Description:

Epson is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager for our hardware design team. This role would provide functional engineering leadership in the realm of IP development targeted for integration into Epson’s ICs.We are seeking an energetic and strong communicator that is interested and capable of both people management as well as technical leadership. The selected person will be responsible for building, growing, and leading a world-class team of engineers to create cutting edge technology solutions for industrial/automotive sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of hardware design, from concept development to production, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of hardware engineers in the design and development of automotive and embedded hardware solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into overall product designs.
  • Define and drive the hardware architecture and design strategy, considering industry trends, customer requirements, and technological advancements.
  • Establish and maintain design processes and best practices to ensure efficient and effective execution of hardware development projects.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver high-quality hardware designs on schedule and within budget.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry developments to inform future hardware design strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in hardware design for automotive and embedded systems, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to production.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellence.
  • Deep technical expertise in hardware design principles, including digital and analog circuit design, MATLAB/Simulink development, and signal integrity analysis.
  • Experience with industry-standard design tools and methodologies, such as schematic capture, simulation, and design for manufacturability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with IATF16949 and ISO26262
