Working for VIA Rail is being a part of a collective effort in sustainable mobility.The Senior Project Manager, Dorval Project will report to the Senior Manager, Program Management Office, MMM Program (Major Investment Programs Unit) and will work closely with the various teams responsible for the execution of the Dorval project: legal, engineering, communications, procurement and property management. They are responsible for coordinating, integrating and monitoring the Dorval project governance process. The agility of the Senior Project Manager will be paramount as the Dorval project evolves in a complex context and multiple stakeholders (internal and external) will have to be mobilized in the execution for the success of the project.Responsibilities:Project management:• Coordinate cooperative workshops to advance various Dorval project planning and work activities;• Ensure the execution, monitoring and delivery of the project directly assigned to them (assess project scope, budget, timelines, risks and issues);• Facilitate work sessions with the MMM team and key stakeholders to develop solutions, resolve issues, resolve uncertainties and assess project and HSE risks;• Determine critical path with Senior Planner and ensure mitigation plans are in place;• Support quality and performance review sessions (Gate Review) to pass major Dorval project milestones;• Participate in the implementation of the risk management process and foster a culture of sound risk management and mitigation plans. Coordinate timely Monte Carlo analyses to estimate the impact of various risks on Dorval project costs and schedule;• In collaboration with the Procurement team, participate in the subcontractor selection process. Translate the company's requirements into a statement of work and ensure that the third party delivers the project on budget, on time and within scope;• Follow up the post-mortem process at the end of each project so that lessons learned are shared with those involved.Governance and communication activities:• Support various governance activities in order to integrate multiple stakeholders into the Dorval project;• Support governance activities related to the Dorval project in accordance with Corporate Project Management Office work methods and industry best practices in project management; • Report on project progress (quality, schedule, costs, risks);• Support the preparation of presentation documents for governance meetings within the Program, with the various executive committees, up to the Board of Directors, as well as for Transport Canada. Requirements : • Bachelor's degree in engineering, administration or related field;• A minimum of 10 years project management experience in operations, transportation or construction. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered;• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French;• Proven practical knowledge of project management activities and project management tools and methods, such as MS Project, SharePoint, EPM 2010 and Project Online (an asset);• Experience in executing major projects and coordinating cross-functional teams;• PMP certification;• Experience of working in a matrix management environment.At VIA Rail, we are proud to be an employment-equity employer and we strive to form teams that reflect the diversity of Canadian society.
