Position Summary A full-time opportunity for an adult in-patient Psychiatrist starting immediately. You will be a part of a dedicated interdisciplinary team which includes psychology, mental health crisis nursing, social work, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, horticulture therapy and addiction services support.  This is a full-time position (35 hours weekly) and can be Salaried or Incorporated. What you’ll be doing: Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, daily care, and discharge Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, concurrent substance use disorders, including medication management, withdrawal management, and psychotherapeutic interventions Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including daily rounds and sufficient individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and finally, a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided) Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences (with NP support) Complete and submit OHIP billings in a timely manner Ability to provide ECT treatment to patients at the Homewood Health Centre once per month is an asset, but not required What we're looking for: A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS) (C) or equivalent body acceptable to the RCPS (C) and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communication Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis and complex problem solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Highly developed organizational and time-management skills Teaching and research experience  Passion for excellent patient-centered and clinical care Expertise fostering integrated care involving both mental health and addictions Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital As part of our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community from COVID-19, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Homewood Health Centre requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.
