is seeking applicants for the following position :

Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program Facilitator

Part-Time, 18 Months Fixed Term

Overview : PAR Program Facilitator provides psychoeducation to individuals found guilty of a criminal offence relating to their current or former partner. The program has two primary goals: to enhance safety and to increase the accountability for those who demonstrate abusive behavior.

The function of this program is to facilitate at ministry mandated 12 session psychoeducational curriculum through group or individual sessions for those convicted of charged related to intimate partner violence. This position reports to the Director, Mental Health Services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Facilitate the PAR program group by providing group psychoeducational sessions, using the Ministry of Attorney General’s PAR group curriculum for those who have been charged with Intimate Partner Violence or exhibit traits of IPV in their relationships and currently on probation.
  • Complete documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate with Justice personnel (Crown, Probation and Parole) as needed
  • Ensure a holistic, quality approach to client care consistent with Compass’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan.
  • Ability to provide services in a second language (in addition to English) will be considered an asset.
  • Available to work flexible hours (at least one evening per week).

Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in social service, community service, counselling, corrections
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding facilitating groups
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role or environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of a computer, related technologies and software required for the role(s)
  • Able to articulate and analysis of Intimate Partner Violence as it relates to gender roles, socialization, the dynamic of power and control and the effects on families.
  • Membership in a professional association or regulatory college is an asset
  • Knowledge of the social service, justice, and health sectors an asset
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and JaneAPP or other similar Client Management Software an asset.
