Litigation Legal Assistant

Our client is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant with litigation experience to join their Estates team in the Toronto, ON office . This is an immediate opening offering a hybrid work model.

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preparing court documents, including but not limited to, application/motion materials, statements of claim/notices of action, mediation briefs, factums and book of authorities;
  • Preparing affidavits of documents and organizing voluminous productions;
  • Preparing cost outlines and bills of costs;
  • Supporting file work by identifying, obtaining, and organizing documents from the clients and from other parties to the litigation;
  • Drafting correspondence to clients, counsel and court;
  • Providing input into the procedures and practices;
  • Docketing time using case management software.

Core Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting; estate litigation is a plus;
  • A Certificate or Diploma from a recognized College, legal assistant or law clerk program;
  • Ability to perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines and handle multiple, yet sometimes conflicting, priorities;
  • Proficiency in the use and application of MS Office, and Adobe;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Team player, adaptable to a changing environment.
