Venables is seeking to hire a machinist for a full-time position. Experience with both manual and CNC equipment would be an asset, with preference given to those with Journeyperson status. Must have mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn while working and a positive attitude.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Set up and operate various machine tools for precision part production.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, ensuring dimensions and tolerances are met.
  • Calculate and control machining factors like speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut.
  • Monitor machine processes, ensuring accuracy and quality during production.
  • Verify finished work piece dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions on equipment.
  • Maintain inspection records, reporting any deviations from specifications.
  • Utilize CNC machines and programming, would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Demonstrate strong mathematical skills, including basic calculations.
  • Prior experience as a machinist or similar role required.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is desirable.

Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in precision machining.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of machining principles and techniques.
  • Experience with CNC machines would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, especially SolidWorks, is a plus.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
  • Strong mathematical skills.
