QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceTwo years' recent related experience working in an emergency department setting.To be granted registration as a certified non-registrant as a Physician Assistant, the PA must have obtained certification as a: Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC); orPhysician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants NCCPA.Enrollment in and compliance with the continuing professional development requirements and proof of enrollment and compliance from the PACCC or the NCCPA, satisfactory to the College.Physician Assistant licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.Must meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements.Mandatory CertificationsCurrent Advanced Cardiac Life Support (with current Basic Life Support).Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Advanced Pediatric Life Support may be considered as an equivalent).Preferred Qualifications (may be attained after hire)Current Advanced Trauma Life Support.Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program.Independent Practitioner Status for FAST Point of Care Ultrasound.Airway Interventions & Management in Emergencies (AIME) Course in previous four years.CASTED Course.Skills And AbilitiesProficient English communication skills, including with patients, families, care givers, and other health care professionals. Effective and efficient computer and written communication skills including order entry and clinical documentation. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment and under the supervision of the assigned supervisor.Carries out professional duties in the face of multiple, competing demands.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including evening and overnight shifts.Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with other health professionals and disciplines. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively under supervision and within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to document in accordance with the CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
