In this role you will be responsible for promoting safety attitudes, safe work practices and environments as well as manage, maintain and administer the health and safety program with the objective of minimizing accidents, injuries and environmental and equipment damage.If you are passionate about promoting a safe and healthy work environment and have the qualifications and experience to excel in this role, apply today!Pay Rate: $80,000 – 90,000/yearLocation:  RichmondShift: 7:30am-3:30pmJob type: Permanent | Full-time Here's why you should apply:Company eventsDental careExtended health careOn-site parkingPaid time offProfit sharingTuition reimbursementVision careResponsibilities:Relay required safety information to all new hiresConducting and documenting inspections and regular site visits to verify compliance with corporate policies and health and safety regulations hazardsIdentifies corrective action to be taken when unsafe acts are identified during an inspection process; assists in resolving any issues of non-compliance; and provides education to project site personnel in matters of health and safetyParticipates and supports employees and contractors in conducting effective incident investigations that identify underlying causes and effective corrective measuresEnsures all required documentations are effectively organized and copies are shared with the appropriate groupsReviews incident reports, monthly statistics, inspection reports and can identify undesirable trends and provide appropriate recommendationsWorks with the management team on the development/implementation of specific safety plans, job hazard assessments and safe work proceduresAssist and provide guidance on return to work plans for on- and off-site injuriesQualifications:Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in CanadaMust be Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certificationMinimum of 5 years of experience leading safety initiativesCertificate of diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or other combination of education and experience may be consideredExperience with conducting risk assessments, teaching first aid, and ensuring legal compliance are idealExperience in the forestry, mill environment an asset but not requiredMust have an understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and guidelinesFamiliarity with terms and policies of the industrySound judgement and decision-making skillsGood written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to influence strategy and collaborate with company leadershipComfortable multi-tasking, working under pressure, and managing timelinesTechnical writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications or similar softwareFirst aid, CPR, and any other relevant medical training
