Millwork Draftsperson / Project Manager

Basic Qualifications :

  1. 3 years experience in custom woodwork design with a strong background in commercial / residential Cabinetry and Millwork

  2. Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology or similar program, equivalent certification, or practical industry experience.

  3. 3 years experience designing custom millwork using AutoCAD

  4. CAM (CNC Programming) experience a bonus.

  5. Journeyman/women Cabinetmaker accreditation a bonus

Essential Requirements :

  1. Be proficient in the operating and use of software including AutoCAD 2D/3D, Word processing, and Excel. Experience with Cabinet Vision and Mastercam a bonus.

  2. Solid command of the English language; spoken, reading, and writing.

  3. Must have previous experience in detail design, and construction.

  4. Must be comfortable with custom cabinet making.

  5. Be organized, efficient, accurate, and thorough in performing the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  6. Be proficient in the setup, operation, maintenance, and use of CNC Machines

  7. Must have high manual dexterity, attention to detail

  8. Must have a good working knowledge of different solid wood types, plastic laminates, plywood, particleboard, veneering, and veneered particleboard/MDF.

  9. Must be able to: a. Work independently, in a team environment, and participate in training apprentices

b. Work in a fast-paced environment

c. Stand for extended periods of time

d. Maintain a clean and safe work environment

e. Work under pressure with tight deadlines

f. Take constructive criticism positively and without ego

g. Lift up to 23kg (50lbs)

  1. Creating shop drawings from the following:
  • Hand designed sketches
  • Architectural drawings
  • Designer drawings
  1. Site visits as required

  2. Communicate and coordinate with designers, contractors, customers etc.. regarding drawings, samples, installation, etc..

  3. Formulate design ideas for building units incorporating our shop standards and construction methods.

  4. Determine project material needs, and place material orders

  5. Producing cutting lists from shop drawings

  6. Under direct supervision of Senior Project Manager

  7. Work closely with: management team, Estimator, Foreman/woman, Installer, Finisher, and shop personnel

  8. Be willing and able to perform any other jobs necessary to meet production deadlines

Other details :

  1. Position is full-time, permanent

  2. Hours of work are Monday-Friday 37.5 hours up to 44 hours / week

  3. Salary to be determined by experience and will increase if merited with job performance.

  4. Must be willing to relocate to Canmore, or reliably commute.

  5. Steel-toed safety boots required

  6. Valid Driver’s licence

  7. Driving Record check (abstract)
