Applicants must have LCSW or LPC licensure through the State of Wyoming Mental Health Licensing Board.Purpose StatementThe job of Counselor/Social Worker is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for developing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive counseling program that addresses academic, career, personal, social/emotional development and behavioral supports; promoting student achievement and success; and assisting in the development of a positive learning environment and successful educational experience for all students.This job reports to the Principal or Director Essential Functions Assists all students, individually or in groups, (e.g. academic skills, social and emotional skills, goals and plans, class schedules as needed, etc.) for the purpose of meeting student needs.Attends regulatory mandated meetings (e.g. IEP, focus groups, student assessment, etc.) for the purpose of participating and ensuring identified services/analyses are communicated in support of student learning while maintaining compliance.Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators for the purpose of assisting students with sources of information, recommendations for educational and career planning and services.Collaborates with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. school administrators, teachers, other educational & community resources, and parents/guardians, etc.) for the purpose of providing information relative to counseling program services, crisis management, preventive services, and needs of individual students.Collects a variety of data (e.g. aggregated, disaggregated, individual, etc.) for the purpose of analyzing and measuring results to evaluate current effectiveness and guide future direction of the counseling program.Conducts an annual yearly program assessment (e.g. testing, interpreting student data, analysis of student/program performance, etc.) for the purpose of recommending future program services; communicating with stakeholder; providing student and parent support.Counsels students, parents, and/or guardians (e.g. utilizing evidence-based practices/frameworks, etc.) for the purpose of providing recommendations and support for individualized student goals.Develops a comprehensive school counseling program within district goals (e.g. ASCA National Model framework, guidance curriculum, individual student planning, student scheduling, preventive and responsive services, etc.) for the purpose of managing and assessing student utilization and outcomes in support of academic, career, and personal/social goals.Evaluates and supports emotional and behavioral needs of students (e.g. tier 1, 2, 3 supports, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing student ability to have a successful education experience.Facilitates student events (e.g. scholarship and award assemblies, informational presentations, parent information nights, etc.) for the purpose of providing essential information and recognition for students.Implements program services, including school guidance program services (e.g. guidance curriculum, developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities, individual student planning academic goals/plans, preventive and responsive services-effective referrals and follow-up, systems support-understanding/interpreting student data, evidence-based practices/frameworks, etc.) for the purpose of providing for student needs within district guidelines and objectives.Interprets a wide variety of student data (e.g. assessments, cognitive, aptitude and achievement tests; quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of effectively utilizing information, identifying student needs, documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.Maintains confidentiality (e.g. district information, staff /student information, data, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring information is provided only in accordance with district policy and administrative guidelines; state and federal laws.Maintains a variety of documents and materials (e.g. evaluations, IEP's, progress monitoring data, reports, relevant student records, etc.) for the purpose of providing current and appropriate information for education stakeholders and meeting district, state, and federal regulations.Monitors students' progress (e.g. academic performance, behavior, emotional, attendance, IEP goals, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues/concerns and applying appropriate interventions to increase student achievement and success.Participates in meetings and activities (e.g. IEP meetings, professional development, etc.) for the purpose of advocating for students and improving knowledge and skills within program objectives.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Provides counseling and services to students (e.g. individual, group, classroom, etc.) for the purpose of addressing identified student concerns and needs.Provides consultation and assistance with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. teachers, administrators, school psychologists, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring consistent, effective and efficient program services for each student.Recommends services for students and families for the purpose of providing appropriate referrals for assistance within the school and community.Researches program eligibility requirements (e.g. financial aid, college eligibility, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date, accurate counsel to students if applicable.Works with specialized populations (e.g. culturally diverse, students and families with varied socio-economic status, varying student ability levels, students with disabilities, etc.) for the purpose of implementing processes that meet student needs requiring special attention.
