Manager of Operations Wellington North Power Inc. (WNP), a small, progressive electricity distribution company in Wellington County serving 4,200 customers, is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated individual to join our team in the role of Manager of Operations .   Vision: To be regarded within the province of Ontario as an industry leader in the safe, reliable and cost-efficient distribution of electricity. Mission: Wellington North Power Inc. shall provide its customers with the most cost-effective delivery of electricity safely, reliably and efficiently. This will be done while providing superior customer service and promoting customer education and green initiatives within its service area .   Position: Manager of Operations   Reports to: President / CEO   Position Summary: Informed by Wellington North Power’s (WNP) mission and vision statements and service values, the Manager of Operations plays a critical role in the success of the organization by efficiently (time and budget) overseeing the construction, maintenance, and use of the overall electrical distribution system ensuring all activities are executed in a healthy and safe manner with technical competence and in compliance with the latest standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.   Major accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Oversight of the Electrical Distribution System: develop and maintain WNP’s Distribution System Plan, Management Plan, Mapping, and SCADA systems Preparing plans, cost estimates and layouts for new/upgraded service installations, capital projects and maintenance works Promoting and ensuring the safety of all staff, outside parties and the general public Collaborating as an active member of the management team regarding Capital and Operating Budgets, development and implementation of the strategic plan, goals, objectives and policies of the company Implementing new or modified work methods and techniques to improve efficiency and safety Managing Wellington North Power Inc.’s operational activities related to provincial Electricity Transition plans, providing direction and oversight of field personnel and contractors Preparing and submitting regular reports to the President and Operations Committee Responding to requests for information from the public and dealing with public complaints and service requirements   Work is executed in office, in the field (in all types of weather), and at customers sites (including industrial customers).   You are: A strategic thinker , with the ability to link long range visions and concepts to daily work. A Team player, capable of collaborating respectfully with staff at all levels  You have: A minimum Power Line Technician Certificate of Qualification / Interprovincial Red Seal or Certified Engineering Technician / Technologist Diploma (Note - preference will be given to applicants with either Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Professional Engineer license ). A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Electrical Utility Sector A minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role with people management Extensive knowledge of the regulated utility environment : thorough knowledge of utility operations , electrical distribution system construction methods, the Electricity Act, Electrical Utilities Safety Rules, Utility Work Protection Code (up to date), knowledge of OEB codes, ESA Distribution Safety Regulations, O Reg 22/04, and regulations pertaining to distribution systems (CSA, ANSI, USF, IESO, UWPC, WNH standards and Conditions of Service) Intermediate knowledge of the Employment Standards Act Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements Strong interpersonal , communication and public relations skills; proficient in dealing effectively with internal and external contacts Proficiency with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and adept at learning and utilizing various utility and organization-specific software (engineering design, information reporting, and analytic software (database / GIS)) A Clear criminal record – the position has access to significant sensitive, financial and confidential information A valid Class “G” driver’s license and reliable transportation – A valid DZ license would be an asset Ability to participate in on call duties with other senior Managers and ability to respond to the WNP’s normal service territory within forty-five minutes Flexibility in work hours / extended hours when necessary   Join our Team!
