Job Summary: The Recreation Aide works in collaboration with the Recreation Manager in the planning and coordination of programs to meet the needs and choices of residents. The Recreation Aides works directly with residents in large and/or small groups and on a 1:1 basis as required to meet needs and choices. Responsible to:Recreation Manager Responsibilities:Responsible for all aspects of resident programs including but not limited to planning activities within parameters established by the Activity DirectorAssists in decorating, setting up, facilitating, supervising and assisting residents, cleaning up, documenting, and evaluating programsParticipate in planning 1:1, small and large group activities, and special eventsEvaluate new and/or modified programs according to resident needs.Supervises community outings as planned and according to resident needs.Complete documentation related to programming including but not limited to assessment, attendance, progress notes, care plans, and quarterly reviews as directed by the Recreation Manager.Effectively communicate and promote all programs offered by the home i.e. create posters, advertisements, etc.Participate in the homes Continuous Quality Improvement Program as directed.Support and effectively utilize volunteer resources in the provision of programs.Ensure effective communication with all residents, family members, staff and volunteers.Work collaboratively as part of the interdisciplinary teamSupport Pastoral Care Services, Palliative Care, and the activities of the Resident’s Council.Participate in departmental meetings, home specific committees, and multidisciplinary care conferences when required.Notes any changes in residents condition and reports to Recreation ManagerComply with all company policies, procedures, and practices.Maintain awareness of changes within the profession and seek continual educational opportunities.Assists with Dining Room duties as assigned.
