Operations Planner

Department: CR&C – Cold Rolling

Location: Hamilton, Ontario - Onsite

Stelco is currently seeking an Operations Planner to join our team in a support role in Hamilton, Ontario.

Your day-to-day:

o Provide general administrative support as required, including but not limited to:

o Receiving and processing invoices to be submitted to accounting in Microsoft Dynamics 365

o Assisting with courier deliveries (incoming and outgoing)

o Facilitate on-site office equipment service or repairs

o Managing access control requests to various computer systems

o Review weekly inventory updates for consumables and refractories and order based on mill requirements

o Track usage of services purchase orders to keep them up to date

o Work with Materials Management, Scales, Purchasing and Accounting to resolve issues

o Track and update employee qualifications and personnel files

o Track and update monthly Health and Safety information

o Provide front-line customer service to vendors; answer inquires and direct issues to appropriate Stelco employees

o Participate in process and equipment failure analysis and making appropriate recommendations

o Reviewing proposed equipment replacement or upgrades, including capital projects with multi-million dollar budgets

o Working with consultants and equipment vendors to ensure process requirements and applicable standards and codes are met

o Engage in operating planning functions to minimize downtime

o Investigate process improvements, facilitate program

o Participation in trials and facilities upgrades

o Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

· Minimum 2 years recent related experience

· Diploma in Business / Engineering / Technology Program preferred

· Hands on experience in a heavy industrial setting

· Troubleshooting skills and experience

· Comfortable with both an office setting and a mill setting

Job Skills and Knowledge:

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required

· Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong sense of team spirit

· Capability to multi-task and handle competing priorities under pressure while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

· Strong organizational skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat

Your work environment:

· A mix of an office and mill heavy manufacturing environment

· Approximately 50% administration load

· Regular M-F day shift with occasional after hours work
