The Electronics Specialist is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills with the potential opportunity to grow further with Emerson Automation Solutions - Appleton Group Canada! Based in our Elmira, ON location, as a part of our Heating Cables Systems Engineering Team. Reporting to the Project Engineer - Heat Trace Controls, you will support engineering activities in the design and production of heat trace control products.

AS AN ELECTRONICS SPECIALIST, YOU WILL :

  • Provide ongoing support for current and existing industrial and commercial control products; liaise and collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders, such as Agency Engineers, Suppliers and Customers
  • Evaluate and edit drawings/BOM’s and software prior to release to production; Utilize internal control process to release engineering documents
  • Review schematics and facilitate construction of prototype circuit boards and related devices to meet specification
  • Interpret technical datasheets of components for qualification into new/existing designs
  • Test products using lab facilities and outdoor test set-ups to validate design operation
  • Support certification projects (UL, CSA); review test reports and applicable standards
  • Work with internal/external team members to qualify alternate/new components for control products; Support global (USA, Philippines, China) team members and third-party partners to resolve production issues
  • Participate in the design of new components/products and the continuous improvement of existing controllers
  • Visit installation sites to review operation of products, liaise with customers as requested

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS :

  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician
  • Relevant experience or knowledge
  • Excellent computer office software skills - Word, Excel
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills - must work well with a wide range of people, departments, and factories - engineering / sales / manufacturing
  • Ability to work with hands, using electrical, mechanical, prototyping type skills
  • Must be able to travel to the USA and Philippines - up to 10% travel
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada - sponsorship will not be provided for this position

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS :

  • 1 to 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of certification standards and agencies
  • 2 years of experience in electronics hardware design/production environment
