Personal Support Worker (Psw)

Barrantes & Associates Inc. is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) with physical intervention training devoted to helping clients achieve their goals. A successful applicant must:

• Maintain a high standard of care, compassion, and commitment.
• Have the proven ability to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary setting.
• Have the proven ability to work with clients of all demographics; including, but not limited to clients with dual diagnoses, developmental disabilities, and complex behaviours.
• Be familiar with direct personal care & assisting with activities of daily living.
• Be familiar or willing to learn the use of mechanical lifts.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain access to a vehicle for travel in the community.
• Possess valid First Aid and CPR training.
• Be able to obtain a valid, negative Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities :

• Develop and maintain rapport with clients as required.
• Assist with and advocate for clients’ needs.
• Implement effective behaviour management strategies as necessary.
• Create a supportive and collaborative environment in order to maximize clients’ potential.
• Provide urgent response for clients in crisis.
• Complete clinical documentation after each client visit.
• Collaborate and communicate with team members as needed.

Other responsibilities:

• Participate in ongoing professional development through company workshops and/or external learning opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.

Experience :

• 3+ years of providing personal care support.
• Additional training in behaviour management and modification considered an asset.
• CPI/Safe Management Group training preferred.

Education :

• A successful applicant is a graduate of a recognized degree or diploma program.
• PSW or equivalent certificate/and or education from a recognized institution.
• Nursing students with 1 year of completed education.

Job Types : Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Casual Contract length: 12 months

Salary : $25.00-$30.00 per hour
