Position’s Primary Objectives: Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives and overseeing the Fund Development and Communications Coordinator, the Communications and Fund Development Manager leads Pacifica Housing’s efforts to advance the organizations Fund Development and Communications accordance to strategic priorities.  The Fund Development and Communications Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s fundraising efforts, developing and implementing strategic communications, and enhancing the organization’s public presence. This role focuses on increasing financial support through major gifts, donor relations, events, and campaigns while ensuring effective communication of the organization's mission, values, and impact. The Fund Development and Communications Manager will be responsible for creating strategies, leading implementation efforts, managing relationships, and overseeing relevant organizational systems. Success in this role will help inspire new relationships, encourage deeper community engagement, advocate for positive change and inform a diverse set of stakeholders to solidify Pacifica Housing’s position as one of the largest providers of affordable housing and supportive services on Vancouver Island. We are looking for a dynamic and creative individual who is highly collaborative, resourceful and dedicated. The ideal candidate will apply best practices in storytelling, measured analytics, collaboration, listening and learning, anticipating and adapting to change that builds upon the organization’s current fund development and communications activities. Key Responsibilities Staff Management ·         The Fund Development and Communications Manager directly manages the Fund Development and Communications Coordinator, providing guidance, direction and support to ensure the objectives of the department and position are achieved. Fund Development ·         Develop, oversee and measure shorter term and long-term fund development plans and goals that include campaigns and targeted cases for support, multiple sources of funds and strategies for donor engagement – not limited to individual giving, major gifts, legacy plans or sponsorships; ·         Support grant applications, including assisting in researching potential grants and communicating with foundations and donors as needed; ·         Mobilize resources including use of grant opportunity software/systems and liaise with staff, contractors, volunteers, or strategic partners, subject to resource availability, to meet fund development goals; and, ·         Grow and manage the organization’s donor and engagement database and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping. ·         Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies. ·         Support in the creation of compelling grant proposals and reports. ·         Plan, coordinate, and oversee fundraising events and campaigns. ·         Develop and maintain a stewardship program to acknowledge and thank donors. Communications and Marketing   Executing a variety of communication and marketing activities including: ·         Support the implementation of Pacifica housing's internal and external communications strategies;   ·         Manage media relations and the development of key messaging in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and values; ·         Support the CEO in the development and coordination of communications efforts as part of their role in sector advocacy with a focus on government relations and advocacy efforts to address organizational objectives; ·         Identify and implement opportunities for direct advertising and promotional activities that include but are not limited to electronic and online digital media; and, ·         Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders and community partners. Strategic Initiatives and Community Engagement Work directly with the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives and department staff on the following: ·         Coordination of internal and external community engagement events; ·         Participation in regular planning and information sharing, including departmental budget oversight; ·         Assisting with tracking data and collecting and publishing performance indicators (KPIs); ·         Assisting with drafting and editing responses to government issued RFPs; ·         Ensuring policies, procedures and organizational standards in relation to this department are in place and consistently followed – including making any recommendations for improvements or changes to reflect best practices in fundraising and current legislative or regulatory compliance, including CRA requirements. Requirements Qualifications:  (minimum Education and Experience requirements): Note:   An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Education Post-secondary degree and/or advanced training in business, marketing, communications or fund development, preferred CFRE designation or equivalent Experience Minimum five (5) years experience in a management/supervisory role related to the following: Successful planning and execution of fund development efforts, including stewarding donor relationships; Proven capacity in communications and marketing, including developing and implementing plans, writing and design experience with targeted audiences, media relations, digital tools and social media; Well-developed analytical and planning skills and initiative to provide advice, solve problems and implement improvements to systems or practices across an organization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ·         Excellent written and oral communication skills; ·         Proven knowledge and skills in donor and stakeholder relations; ·         Demonstrated experience and success supervising a team; ·         Attention to detail in writing, editing and reviewing key documents related to internal and external communications across a variety of platforms; ·         Demonstrated skill in research, writing and content creation; ·         Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other stakeholders and departments; ·         Exceptional Time management; and, ·         Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and social media applications and platforms relevant to the position (i.e. MS Office, Matchmaker, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Wordpress, etc.). Additional Requirements ·         Must have valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability ‘business class’ insurance. ·         Periodic travel will be required. As Pacifica Housing works with vulnerable populations, We require all staff to successfully clear a Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Record Check run by the Ministry of Justice.
