Standards Technologist - Architecture, Toronto, Ont.

Position Description: Our client, is seeking to hire one (1) Standards Technologist to assist with daily processing and administration of TTC Design Standards revisions in Standards Section, Technical Support, Engineering, Construction and Expansion (ECE). The Standards Technologist will report to the Manager – Standards, and work closely with other Standards team members and staff in ECE and TTC Operations as required. Standards Technologist will be required to provide the following services: • Analyzing Design Standard documents (Master Specifications, Design Manual, Standard and Directive Drawings) for completeness, adherence to TTC Standards guidelines and templates, pre-established revision task scope, as well as for conformance with Group procedures. • Responsible for the various technical, administrative and coordination functions associated with the Design Standards revision process. • Supports the Standards section with completing and circulating necessary forms for approval/signatures, and tracking task status. Implementing assigned Design Standard revision markups, proofreading and checking final document ensuring completeness. • Coordinating the Design Standards revision effort with designers from the Engineering Department, Plant Maintenance, S/E/C, Track and Structure, Streetcar Infrastructure, Safety and Environment Department and other departments. • Processing, tracking and coordinating stakeholder input review comments, and ensuring all review comments are adequately addressed. • Assembling, preparing and/or reviewing various status reports for the Manager - Standards and team members on a timely basis. • Assisting in the maintenance of the specified Product List. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Architectural or Engineering Technology), along with related, progressive experience, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent. • Experience with architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design disciplines and their interrelationships, especially as related to a transit environment. • Good knowledge of design and construction practices including applicable codes, standards and regulations. • Good knowledge in the area of technical specification writing, including specification research methods and techniques. • Good knowledge of engineering design office practices and technical records management principles; Strong skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, proficiency in Access; good knowledge of PowerPoint. • Good computer and keyboarding skills. • Strong service orientation; sound judgement, and demonstrated ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives. • Clearly communicate in English both verbally and in writing. • Good English language spelling, grammar and proofreading skills.
