Greenstone Mine - Operations Health and Safety Coordinator Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario. The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine. Greenstone Mine is seeking a Operations Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the Operations Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the Health and Safety program within the Greenstone Gold Mine. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE: Assist with the development and review of health and safety rules, policies and procedures in accordance with site, company and government regulation and legislation Verify that the Health and Safety Management System is understood by all employees and contractors through surveillance audits and directly engaging with all Facilitate and participate in incident/accident investigations and risk assessments. Develop and promote the adoption of new safety training programs and practices while maintaining a strong base of core safety practices Assist with firefighting, mine rescue and other emergency planning preparations and related activities. Maintain and report health and safety statistics Participate in daily safety interactions with employees including safety inspections and audits, identifying potentially hazardous situations Conduct inspections to ensure that health and safety requirements and governmental legislation is being followed SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Have a passion for coaching and mentoring GGM employees to work safely Strong leadership skills and ability to create a positive collaborative work environment Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications Self-motivated, able to work independently prioritize multiple tasks EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION High school diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation or recognized degree in Occupational Health and Safety would be an asset Minimum 5 years experience in a health and safety role within the mining industry A combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position Demonstrated experience leading groups Advanced knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations for mines and processing plants Proficient in Microsoft and experience with Health and Safety software program LOCATION This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario.
