Manager of Emergency Department & Sexual Assault

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor degree in nursing or related health discipline required
  • Current registration with a Health Discipline College required
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred

Principal Duties :

  • Promotes Bluewater Health’s mission, vision and values
  • Promotes and facilitates the use of systems that ensure patient needs are being met, and that the provision of patient care is consistent with BWH strategic priorities and with the goals, objectives and standards of the programs
  • Facilitates and champions an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and decision making by the patient care team around program and patient care issues
  • Assists Professional Practice Supervisor in the identification and planning of patient and staff education programs and in the orientation of new team members to the program
  • Monitors and analyzes the results of quality measurements and recommends solutions/changes to improve patient care - Pay for Results Program
  • Co-ordinates the day to day utilization of human and material resources to achieve the program’s goals and function
  • Monitors attendance and performance of team members in achieving the disciplines’ standards of practice and manages performance reviews as delegated by the emergency Director
  • Assists the Emergency Director to achieve the program financial targets by monitoring program expenses and implementing recovery planning as directed
  • Assist the Emergency Director to meet benchmark targets related to patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, leadership development initiatives, quality improvement initiatives
  • Works collaboratively with Professional Practice, Performance Management and clinical process support to promote clinical change processes
  • Assists Program Director to monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, corporate policy, and collective agreements
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Manages and facilitates patient/family feedback in collaboration with Patient Experience
  • Works collaboratively with Occupational Health
  • Works collaboratively with Human Resources department to recruit/retain and support emergency staff
  • Facilitates and works collaboratively with Sexual Assault Network to promote and educate on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence
  • Regularly attends and participates in all surveys, co-ordinator meetings, and statistical requirements of the Sexual Assault Network
