We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for positive, enthusiastic and friendly individuals to deliver memorable experiences to our customers. WHAT WE ARE HIRING FOR We are hiring for: Sports Instructors to run programs primarily on evenings and weekends throughout the year Summer Sport Camp Instructors – these are half-day, multi-week camps during July and August. Some are multi-sport camps while others are sport specific: Mini Climbers Camp (4-6 yrs) Outdoor sport, hiking, survival skills Multi-Sport Mini-Climbers (4-6 yrs) Climb,sports, and swim Racquet sports Scooter Camp Skateboard Camp WHY WORK FOR US? You will be an integral part of our dedicated Sports Instructor team who continually strive to make a difference in the recreation and cultural lives of North Vancouver residents by providing excellent customer service experiences. We are currently looking for instructors who can teach soccer, basketball, badminton, pickleball, tennis, gymnastics, skateboarding, climbing, ball hockey, and parkour among others. We offer a wide variety of sport programs and your ability to instruct multiple sports will be an asset. ABOUT YOU You are an energetic and highly motivated individual who is available to instruct one or more of our many sports programs. You are a team player who is committed to community. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs and excellent at building relationships. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people and instructing in a safe and friendly manner. You will be responsible for lesson planning, and delivering quality instruction to early years and school age children, youth, adults and/or seniors. NVRC sport instructors promote the principles of physical literacy and include the development of fundamental movement skills in each class. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a minimum 16 years of age, with an athletic aptitude and have some experience planning and leading programs. A current Emergency First Aid certification or equivalent 8-hour course is required. HIGH FIVE certification (available online through BCRPA) is required within three months of employment. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. Rate of pay is $18.00-$23.00 per hour based on training and experience.
