We have the perfect opportunity for you! POSITION OVERVIEW  As the City of Maple Ridge continues to experience growth and development, we are seeking a dedicated individual to join the team. As an Engineering Inspector 1, you'll be at the forefront of technical inspectional and regulatory fieldwork. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that work conducted by private and utility company forces aligns with specific standards, regulations, and by-law provisions. You'll also assist in material testing procedures, handle public inquiries and complaints, and enforce compliance with set criteria. In this role, you'll also be tasked with specific projects, including enhancing sight-line visibility at intersections, coordinating contractor activities, measuring sewer flow, and performing remedial work on intersections. Strong public relations and customer service skills are essential due to significant public contact.If you're ready to make a meaningful impact on municipal infrastructure while engaging with the community, apply now!EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduation preferably supplemented by undergraduate courses related to engineering technology.  Some experience in construction work or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Preferably certification as a Public Works Inspector 1 (ASTTBC Registered Technical Specialists).  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESSound knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the installation of specific Municipal services and public utilities.Sound knowledge of the Municipal standards, requirements, regulations and specific by-law provisions governing the work performed.Working knowledge of elementary surveying methods and practices.Ability to perform inspectional and regulatory work of limited variety and complexity.Ability to exercise tact, impartiality and discretion in dealing with external contacts and the general public.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans and prepare and maintain records, reports and other material related to the work.Skill in the use of testing, calculating and basic survey tools and equipment.LICENCES AND CERTIFICATESClass 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia. EQUITY STATEMENTAt the City of Maple Ridge, we are dedicated to cultivating an inclusive culture that actively values and embraces diversity.
