Recruitment Range : MIN $7,668 – STEP 3 $8,515 Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. Reporting to the Manager, Safety and Training Standards, the Health and Safety Officer position advises multiple stakeholders within BC Transit. Our team provides a safety lens to all departments while providing focus to those areas with the most potential risk.  In turn, our employees see the commitment that BC Transit and the OHS team have for their safety and the overall safety culture at BC Transit.   Health and Safety is integral to everything we do at BC Transit and this team takes great pride in continuously improving current practices so that we meet or, in many cases, exceed guidelines and regulations.      BC Transit is committed to continuous improvement, and the OHS Department is building and implementing a new SMS that will enable us to be more proactive in preventing injuries and predict when the injuries are most likely to happen.   In joining our team, you will be working with all facets of BC Transit and provide your insights in creating a safer work environment and share your ideas on how to continuously improve overall safety. We value lifelong learners and have found that a mix of any of the following credentials have set people up for success in this role in the past: Post secondary diploma in a related field.  Extensive knowledge of Worksafe BC OHS Regulations and Guidelines Experience working with a large organization with multiple stakeholders. Five years related experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field including experience in incident investigation, workplace hazard identification and mitigation. Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be considered an asset.    What we'll bring to the table...
