We are currently recruiting for a Material Coordinator to join our team!

Responsibilities :

  • Assist the buyer/planner or the production supervisors in sourcing materials or services, obtaining quotes from potential suppliers according to internal purchasing policies and procedures
  • Review all purchasing quotes with the material or service stakeholders to select the appropriate supplier
  • Enter production or departmental material or service purchase requisitions in ERP system(s)
  • Assist in determining appropriate inventory levels, material storage system and location for all materials with input from buyer/planner, the supply chain manager and production supervisors
  • Maintain/revise system parameters for supplier's vendor management storage machines, Patriot Forge's Matrix machines, and ERP System to ensure data integrity, consistency and accuracy
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts and all material handling equipment required to load/unload vehicles and move material as required
  • Receive all materials, entering pertinent information into the ERP system(s), identify material and place in their designated storage area
  • Enter the quantity received in the associated material storage system (if applicable)
  • Review and communicate supplier quality or delivery issues with the site's buyer/planner or with the supply chain manager
  • Deliver materials to the appropriate area and/or put away the materials received in the designated storage area ensuring safe material storage practices are followed and maintained
  • Obtain materials/tooling requiring repair, complete appropriate documentation and arrange pick up-shipping with the repair service provider or with the traffic coordinator
  • Review raw material receiving/inspection reports and mill certificates to ensure information accuracy
  • Enter pertinent information into the ERP system(s) for all raw material receiving and re-cog orders
  • Manage respective site's material recycling processed with guidance from the supply chain manager
  • Ensure accurate sorting and appropriate disposal of all scrap according to the determined disposal method
  • Perform the duties of the traffic coordinator position during absence

Experience/Skills/Education:

  • Completion of secondary school with a minimum of 2 years material handling or warehousing experience
  • Previous experience with material planning, material sourcing, shop floor material non-conformances, handling shop floor consumables or metal scrap is considered an asset
  • Material handling equipment experience and certification (overhead cranes and forklifts) including the safe handling of large objects or materials
  • Previous experience working with steel or production support materials would be an asset
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the capabilities of the various modes of transportation, export permits, US customs, tariffs, etc. would also be an asset
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, coordination and priority setting skills
  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
