SUMMARY

Bear Hills Casino will be a new entertainment and hospitality destination in the Maskwacis region of Alberta. Proudly owned by Louis Bull Tribe, Bear Hills Casino will generate revenues for Louis Bull Tribe through excellent service and provide employment and skills development for the Tribe’s members.

The Security Manager is critical to the success of Bear Hills Casino and will be responsible for all aspects relating to safety and security of our patrons, employees, and Bear Hills Casino property.

This position is supervised by the General Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary purpose of the Security Manager is to manage the security standards and ensure policy and procedures are maintained. The Security Manager will demonstrate leadership and a professional image to all guests, employees, local community representatives, vendors and governing agencies while maintaining employer standards for guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction, quality assurance and asset protection.

ROLE

This position requires the ability to communicate clearly, deal tactfully and work effectively with Bear Hills Casino management, staff, and patrons. The incumbent in this position will primarily work with security guards and management.

The Security Manager must be able to respond or work on any given day.

The Security Manager must have the ability to focus on a computer for extended periods of time and may be expected to work extended hours in order to meet the objectives or deadlines of the Employer. The Security Manager will be required to work a minimum of 40 hrs per week. Some travel may be necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Security Manger shall:

  • Adhere to all Bear Hills Casino Policies and Procedures.
  • Consistently report to work on time and be prepared to perform the duties of the position.
  • Acts as a role model within and outside of the Casino.
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Communicate regularly with the General Manager about department issues.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the security department are met and or exceed the casino and regulators standards.
  • Supervise and participate in the security team activities and shifts by leading, training, mentoring, evaluation and providing feedback as appropriate.
  • Conduct investigations, determine findings, and inform management & police as required.
  • Maintain building access and egress controls and ensures that department initiatives, such as building evacuation are coordinated with department and casino staff.
  • Retain a thorough and updated knowledge of company policies and procedures, provincial and local regulations for casino operations.
  • Liaise with the management team and participate in casino initiatives.
  • Contribute to the service standard and department budget. Ensures scheduling and expenditures are controlled.
  • Hold meetings with staff.
  • Act as a role model within and outside the casino
  • Ensure all security related information is kept confidential and not shared outside of Bear Hills Casino players, employees, security systems, surveillance systems, delivery schedules, etc.
  • Work with Gamesense Representatives assuring all SE documents are updated regularly and reports all SE re-entries to AGLC.
  • Track and verify that all employee gaming license registration are active and not expired.
  • Take part and aid in all internal investigations and provide, collect, organize, and store all witness statements, footage and evidence related to them.
  • Provide legal statements in any occurrence that requires a court appearance.
  • Assist in operating, maintaining, and upgrading the security surveillance systems to the acceptable industry standard with the assistance of the existing monitoring company.
  • Be responsible for AGLC inspections and conforming to AGLC Terms and Conditions pertaining to surveillance.
  • In consultation with the General Manager, determine what surveillance upgrades are required.
  • Train surveillance staff and ensure they can operate the system on their own.
  • Any other duties as requested.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the security field.
  • Experience in customer service or as a supervisor is an asset.
  • May be asked to provide a minimum of 2 letters of reference acknowledging your management experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGULATIONS :

  • Must complete a criminal record check prior to an interview.
  • Must be able to possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance.
