Responsibilities & Qualifications

Site Survey
Complete site surveys including all available information to assist with design.
Visit is organized to include ancillary areas that may need to be reviewed.
Begins to identify existing items in space that may be non-conforming or could use improvement (value added).

Drafting and Design
Able to design straightforward systems for projects such as tenant improvements, residential (excluding central plant/services), restaurants, new construction and others in general conformance to company drafting
standards.
Begins to draw on experience to proactively foresee potential challenges in execution of project.
Regularly optimizes design, considering cost implications and sustainability.

Project Support
Prepares construction documentation such as addenda, CCNs, SIs, shop drawing reviews and ancillary sketches for straightforward items.
Works to manage expectations for deliverables and overall schedule.
For smaller/straightforward projects, may act as client’s key contact for day-to-day project-related items. Responsible for completion of field reviews and reports for review by supervisor before issuance. Effectively navigates small/straightforward projects to successful completion.

Communication
Communicates clearly with internal team and project manager.
Presents numerical data effectively, and can read and interpret complex data.

Technical Knowledge
Understanding of:
Thermodynamics, heating/cooling calculations, pump/piping systems theory, psychrometric charts and acoustics;
Codes such as BCBC, VBBL NBCC, ASHRAE 62,90.1 , NFPA and CSA;
Different mechanical systems (e.g. able to specify heat pumps, roof top units, VAV Boxes, heating/cooling coils, make up air units, dust collection systems, cooling towers, etc.)
Benefits and drawbacks of different mechanical systems.
Able to size hot water tanks, ductwork, piping, air separators, heat exchangers, control valves, expansion tanks and other associated equipment/components for medium complex projects.
Fluent in AutoCAD and/or Revit and HAP

Teamwork
Works effectively and proactively as part of a team, able to effectively run assigned projects.

Qualifications, Education and Experience
Bachelors degree, C.Tech. or A.Sc.T. in engineering or related field
Passive House/LEED beneficial.
Approximately 2-4 years of directly related experience.

Additional Information

We value our team members and firmly believe in fair compensation. The base compensation range for this role is $70,000-$85,000 annually.
