Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English Hours: 40 hours per week Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years or equivalent experience Work setting In shop Tasks Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools Instruct apprentices Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications Realize machine castings to make metal molds, core boxes and precisely shaped models Inspect and test final products Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools Metal mould-making experience Injection moulds Tool and die fabrication experience Gauge blocks Jigs and fixtures Metal cutting, forming or bending dies Work conditions and physical capabilities Fast-paced environment Handling heavy loads Manual dexterity Attention to detail Hand-eye co-ordination Standing for extended periods Own tools/equipment Tools Steel-toed safety boots Personal suitability Accurate Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Organized Team player Screening questions Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?
