Job Summary

The Tooling Assistant Manager coordinates all activities within the department and oversees ongoing and new projects while promoting continuous improvement and team member growth, with Vuteq, and Plastic Business Unit Goals in mind.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management Duties include, but not limited to; Manage day to day tasks with Tooling Engineers and Admins, which includes time and attendance, time off requests and time management, within the written policies.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate team members
  • Perform Team member evaluations, identify and provide training and the tools needed to for the Tooling Team
  • Create strategies to improve efficiency, cost, and quality of Tools from initial design stage (ie. New technology, improved design)
  • Manage meetings to inform and keep Tooling Team up to date on latest industry news, departmental goals, and overall KPI
  • Update Tooling Standards as applicable based on requirements/improvements for all Vuteq plants
  • Lead activity related to the up front tooling design to ensure the best possible tool at first shots
  • Main Liaison between each plant and VTCA tooling team

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Successful completion of a minimum two-year engineering diploma program from a college (design, mechanical, manufacturing, and industrial engineering are all considered relevant)
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD software, Sigmasoft, and Cimatron (certificate considered an asset)

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in plastics manufacturing, and automotive interiors
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, and design
  • Experience managing a small group of professionals
