JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a compassionate clinical or counselling psychologist with excellent problem-solving skills who is committed to helping people better their lives. The psychologist will make assessments and identify a wide variety of disorders in clients, formulating suitable treatments by focusing on listening to patients and identifying their core problems, building strong, long-term relationships based on trust, and monitoring patient response to treatment over time, among other duties. As a psychologist, you will provide safe, quality patient care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the ByWard Family Health Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applying psychotherapy to assist patients with life challenges, behavioural and cognitive issues or emotion problems
Testing and assessing patients for indications of mental health disorders
Using psychotherapy to improve the quality of life for individuals, groups and families
Aiding in the patients coping with their conditions by teaching them how to adopt more healthy and positive behaviours and habits
Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and strategies to help patients
Encouraging and reciprocating sustained openness
Generating comprehensive treatment protocols
Referring patients to other specialists or doctors as needed
Keeping a detailed accounts of patient mental health history
Collaborating other healthcare providers or team members to evaluate the medical and physical condition of the patient
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctoral degree in Psychology or Postgraduate degree in an applicable Psychotherapy-intensive discipline
Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
Expertise in prevailing evidence-based protocols
Expert diagnosis skills
Experience providing psychotherapy treatment to patients of all ages
A flexible, empathic, and receptive approach to psychotherapy
Knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniques
Strong listening, observation, and communication skills
Familiarity with EMR/CHR systems
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
