Accounting Supervisor

General Accountability The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department which includes monitoring and analyzing accounting data, managing daily cash flows, producing monthly statements and reports, and supporting the Controller in establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and mentor the accounting team.

  2. Responsible for the timely and accurate financial close

  3. Producing the month end reporting package, providing analysis and communicate finding and suggest possible improvements

  4. Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of procedures and internal controls; and oversee their implementation.

  5. Ensuring adherence to accounting policies and standards and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  6. Supervise daily accounting functions and perform regular reviews of journal entries and accruals

  7. Support the year-end audit

  8. Ensure consistent adherence to accounting standards, principles, policies and procedures

  9. Manage cash flow and produce weekly cash projections

  10. Other ad hoc financial analysis and duties as needed

  11. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions both timely and accurately.

  12. Capex reporting, tracking and analysis. Completing depreciation schedules and booking entries.

  13. Reviewing G/L accounts, reconciling bank accounts and performing account reconciliations.

  14. Assist with weekly and monthly management reporting

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate university degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics;
  • Preference will be given towards those with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards the same
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting roles
  • Experience using accounting and ERP software
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside the organization
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel;
  • Ability to adhere to professional, regulatory and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset
