Assistant Supervisor – WetaskiwinThe Opportunity:A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do: Plan, direct, engage and understand daily production operations while anticipating and troubleshooting production problems Accurately review daily reports and make necessary adjustments Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning employees, establishing priorities, revising schedules, and resolving problems Contribute to teamwork and foster positive employee relations by communicating effectively with peers, supervisors, and managers Build and maintain a collaborative team with coworkers and hourly staff Organize period end and year-end inventory counts Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures Maintain quality and legislative requirements by adhering to, correctly and completely documenting and enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and all requirements within the framework of the HACCP Food safety program Complete daily/weekly/monthly task observations with the hourly employees Adhere to all Animal Welfare policies and regulations Follow-up and support FSQA on animal welfare investigations Support internal and third-party animal welfare audits Measure performance and achieve Continuous Improvement in processes to implement cost reductions while maintaining quality Strive to continuously improve performance: employee relations, yields, labour results, equipment, sanitation, personal and employee job knowledge, etc. Participate and support in Continuous Improvement projects Contribute actively with project ideas and project planning and implementation to the overall achievement of the process business plan Rotating on-call to support off-shifts What we have to offer you: Be part of a company with an inspiring and unique vision, with a deep commitment to sustainability and expanding its leadership in sustainable protein across North America Professional and career development opportunities Competitive Health and Wellness benefits that start on your first day of employment Commitment to Learning – courses, resources and tools provided to all employees Employee Assistance Program What you will bring: Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory or related experience Ability to be CPR and First Aid certified as needed Post-secondary diploma and/or degree in field such as Operations, Management/Leadership Studies, Business, etc. is an asset Desire and initiative to excel within the organization Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook – SAP Experience an asset Effective communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict Well established organization and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks Experience with scheduling personnel relating to production needs Self-starter with good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Continuous learner and willingness to embrace change Flexible to cover Production Supervisor as needed Other duties as assigned by Management A Sustainable, Forward Thinking Protein CompanyMaple Leaf Foods is a leading meat and plant-based protein company, employing over 11, people and publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
