Construction Safety Officer

Our Client

Our client is a construction company based in Victoria, primarily focused on increasing the quality of communities through their housing initiatives in Greater Victoria. The Opportunity

The role they are looking for is a Construction Safety Officer to step in right away and work on their new project, a 105-unit rental building in West Bay. In this capacity, you will be responsible for all safety processes and procedures on the designated construction site. Reporting to the Director of Construction and Safety Manager, you will enforce company safety policy and work procedures. You will work in tandem with the Site Supervisors & Project Managers to complete accident investigations to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare site safety plans, site maps, and safety information gathered from subcontractors and site work boards for public notices and information
• Ensure weekly crew talks are executed and logged
• Promote a culture of safety within the organization and job site
• Carry out safety corrective action plans because of site inspections, investigations, or compliance requirements
• Maintain and manage safety records, logbooks, registers, and documentation as required
• Respond immediately to safety incidents/accidents ensuring risk mitigation strategies are implemented promptly
• Conduct site safety orientations and training as required

Education/Experience

• 2+ years of construction-related experience in a safety capacity
• First Aid level 2 certification
• Passionate about Health & Safety
• Completed safety courses including fall protection, confined space, injury management, WHMIS, and safety officer training
• Proficient computer skills in G suite
