Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role. Perform civil engineering design and calculations for the following facilities: Storm water management, retention and sediment control ponds, sizing the ditches, culverts, and various ponds. Water and slurry pipelines, including valve stations, air valves and low point drains. Site development (roads, pipeline corridors, facility pads, rough grading, site preparation / foundations excavation, finished grading and surface drainage) Pipe and open channel hydraulics. Conduct thorough review and checks on civil engineering design drawings. Prepare contract and procurement technical support documents such as scopes of work, specifications, and bills of quantities. Conduct site visits and field investigations for the construction and modification of mining and industrial facilities and services when required. Develop creative yet practical civil engineering concepts. Prepare technical reports, specifications, design criteria, and detailed material take-offs. Work with and lead civil designers. Site visits and coordination with Construction/Trades. Establish good working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders. Contributing to the preparation of technical specifications and engineering input to material, construction, and commissioning packages. Providing engineering technical support to the field during construction, including responding to RFIs from construction contractors, issuing Site Instructions and performing field reviews. Involvement in the development of proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents. Diploma in Civil Engineering Design Technology. 5+ years of relevant design experience relating to mining, industrial facilities and infrastructure. Knowledge of standard drawings for mining and transportation infrastructure projects including site development, roadways, railways, buried and overland piping, water and wastewater treatment plants and pump stations, storm drainage and retention / sediment control ponds. Experience in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D design/drafting software. Understanding various coordinate systems and geodetic elevation references. Experience with processing and modifying the topographic data for the project needs, setting up the project survey reference points, and establishing the coordinate systems for the projects. Drafting and design experience within a consulting engineering environment. Familiarity with storm water management systems including runoff calculations, the sizing of ditches, culverts, storm sewers and ponds, and the design of erosion and sediment control facilities. Proficiency in the operation of GIS based applications would be an advantage. Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks. Excellent organizational, technical, writing, communication, and computer skills. Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
