Responsible for the accurate bi-weekly processing of pays according to Federal payroll legislation, in conjunction with company pay guidelines. Positions include salaried and hourly personnel. Recognize situations for additional payments i.e., any company bonuses, shift premiums, boot & tool allowances etc. and pay accordingly. Recognizing the differences with Ontario, Manitoba, and Quebec deductions. Responsible to check the accuracy of all timecards, trip reports, and terminal summary sheets. Verify and ensure entitlement for overtime, shift premiums, personal days, bereavement situations, stat holiday pay etc., are interpreted accurately according to company policy. Verify employee absences affecting pay are interpreted correctly. Enter data into Infinium system. (AS 400) Understand each area of input and various affected screens. Import & ensure accuracy of payroll data from NTE1000 (Time & Attendance) system. Audit Payroll Register to ensure accuracy. Review source deductions, check garnishees, review deductions for arrears in insurance etc. Make any necessary adjustments, prepare manual cheques when required. Set up new employees into payroll system, modify and maintain employee records i.e., addresses, direct deposit information, etc. Enter and ensure accuracies of all position transfer, salary changes, status changes received from HR department. Process terminations along with completing the Record of Employment in timely fashion. Monitor and track entitlement of vacation. Run listings; receive emails and record salaried and hourly vacations. May be required to recalculate and adjust accruals. Assist in payment of special additional pay runs i.e., bonus payments, driver safety bonus etc. Input employee miscellaneous deductions. Print direct deposit pay stubs and prepare for distribution to all terminals. Respond to emails when required. Answer employee inquiries. Assist in department filing, and any special projects as assigned by Manager through various times of the year. Report new hires on Service Canada website on a regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. All other duties as required. Who Are We Looking For? 1 – 2 years payroll experience. Knowledge of the transportation industry would be an asset. PCP designation (or working towards completion) Detail oriented, able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple assignments within strict departmental timelines Must be extremely organized and have the ability to work with exceptions as they arise, as well as standard procedures. Ability to handle increased workload during certain periods of the year, ie covering departmental vacations, December stats, year-end responsibilities. Strong computer skills required due to complex payroll system, in addition to use of Excel, Word, PDF’s, & Outlook Good communication skills, both verbally and written for dealing with employee inquiries Knowledge of AS400 and NTE1000 preferred. Experience with system would be an asset Willingness to be part of a team with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
