Do you want to be a helper in the mental health and addictions field?

We are looking for dedicated support workers to lead and be role models to our residents. We are interested in hiring people who love to bring their own experiences and passions into the workplace to teach residents new skills (such as: life skills, cooking/baking, beading, sewing, etc). Rewards offered to staff are training opportunities, benefits for employees in a rotation of 24 hours per week or more, and the ability to move through different environments within the organization.

Our organization is a program that serves people who are recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. The staff work with the residents to provide a healthy lifestyle by modeling life skills and conflict resolution. By supporting people who are recovering from addiction, we are accommodating a positive environment for people to recover in a safe way.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure residents are following house rules
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with residents
  • Work together with residents to overcome barriers
  • Observing and documenting appropriately

Qualifications :

  • Working knowledge of mental health and addictions
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Negative vulnerable sector check

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Driver’s license
  • Bilingual (Ojibway and English)

You will be a part of the recovery journey of the people we see come through our doors; although challenging, the job is rewarding as you get to connect with people of all walks of life, support people through their recovery journey, and expand your knowledge around addiction and recovery.

COVID-19 considerations: Sanitizing continues to be practiced during this time, and staff are required to self-screen before work/screen residents daily, isolation protocols are enforced when necessary.

Education :

  • Secondary School (required)

  • supportive care: 1 year (preferred)
