We advocate for our employees to speak-up, learn, experiment, share, and be part of an where diversity is embraced.Our Canada Growth Fund Investment Management team is currently seeking a Manager Investments, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management, to work out of our Montreal office. ABOUT THE TEAMThe Canada Growth Fund Investment Management (CGFIM) Team is a new team created within PSP to manage the $15bn Canada Growth Fund. CGF’s mandate is to catalyze substantial private sector investment in Canadian low-carbon projects, technologies, businesses, and supply chains by deploying innovative funding structures that help mitigate certain risks and uncertainties inherent to investing in the low-carbon economy. CGF will be investing in Canadian projects and companies across themes such as carbon capture, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, clean technology, and critical minerals. Size of team:The team currently consists of approximately 16 professionals and is expected to grow to support the execution of CGF’s mandate.ABOUT YOUR ROLE As a Manager Investments, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management, you will: Be actively participating in the energy transition in Canada, deploying and managing CGF’s capital, shaping strategy and leading investments into emerging decarbonization sectors and technologies. This includes:Actively contribute to the analysis of relevant sectors/industry (including relevant regulatory and policy frameworks) and developments to help identify potential investment opportunities.Perform preliminary analysis of investment opportunities against the CGF mandate and its impact criteria, demonstrating consistent investment judgement and ability to challenge opinionsActively contribute to the execution and due diligence of investments in Canadian projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions (ie: CCUS) and in Canadian cleantech company investmentsTake ownership of several diligence workstreams (commercial, regulatory, impact etc.) and be ultimately accountable for valuation/analytical work including the review of financial & operational models, calibration of key assumptions, scenario design & analysis as well as sensitivity analysis for exampleLead the preparation of investment recommendation papers for internal approvalStart leading discussion and take ownership of investment documentation. Build an understanding of bid tactics and start demonstrating negotiation skillsTake lead role in project management aspects of deal execution including budget planning & approval, management of timeline & deliverables within required cadence, design and management of the workplan (including allocation of work & responsibilities with expert consultants and within the team)Collaborate with senior members of the team and provide oversight/coaching/development to junior team members (analysts/associates)Provide support to team on internal projects to improve team performance and operational efficiencyMonitor investments, assist on value creation/monitoring plans and assist in the disposition of portfolio investments as requiredCultivate network of contacts within and outside of the investment & energy transition industries to assist with the identification and evaluation of investment opportunitiesBuild relationships with key internal (risk, tax, legal, HR) and external stakeholders as requiredWHAT YOU’LL NEEDBeing a well-rounded investor, with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience within conventional energy, renewable energy, clean-tech investing and/or investment banking/corporate finance/transaction servicesExperience in impact investing would be an asset but not requiredExecution skills across business development, investment analysis on complex transactions; with broad due diligence experience across workstreams (commercial, financial, strategic, operational, legal)Intellectually curiosity, self-motivated and possessing strong analytical skillsHighly collegial. collaborative and supportive; comfortable with shared decision-making processesStrong written and verbal and interpersonal communication skillsRelevant educationGood communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn)We offer a tailored employee experience and competitive total rewards and benefits package* designed to attract and retain global diverse talent, reward performance, and reinforce business strategies and priorities.
