Financial Analyst - Financial Planning and Analysis

Royal Canadian Mint is hiring a Financial Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis, who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Consolidations, the Financial Analyst - FP&A is focused on analytical support for a variety of reporting and analysis activities. The incumbent is responsible to validate financial data, analyze business results, consolidate financial reporting and contribute to a variety of analyses to support the FP&A team and various internal clients.

The Financial Analyst - FP&A supports objectives through process and efficiency improvement, targeted reporting and analysis on projects and capital investments, and support for financial processes in product management and costing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the development of the annual corporate plan, quarterly forecasting and monthly financial reporting.
  • Coordinate the capital expenditure budget and forecast, analyze variances and report insights in periodic reporting deliverables.
  • May lead or assist in the following: journal entries to redistribute costs on the income statement, entry of standard costs and cost rollups in the costing system, verification of product costs in the system (including new product introductions), and input of costs into business cases for new products or product cost analysis.
  • Responsible for the completion of various Statistics Canada surveys.
  • Support the FP&A team for monthly and quarterly reporting, variance analyses, and provide support for data requests.
  • Perform verifications, reconciliations and analyses on cost centre forecasts, budgets and personnel costs.
  • Collaborate with others in the organization (e.g. IT, Procurement, Operations) to meet Finance & Administration objectives.

Requirements :

  • University degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success with financial analysis, data analysis, reporting
  • Attention to detail; ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; demonstrated success communicating with clients at all levels and varying financial knowledge
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Accounting designation or advanced degree is an asset
  • Knowledge of Prophix, other CPM software or BI reporting is an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
