Area Maintenance Coordinator (Amc) - Electrical

Position Summary : Reporting to the Area Maintenance Lead, the AMC is the link between Maintenance, Unit Operations and Shift Operations. The AMC collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance, Projects and other areas of the business to support production targets and operations. This position works closely with front line supervisors in areas of efficiency, safety, training, and overall site operations. This role ensures Refinery Maintenance is executed in a planned way, with the support of the Maintenance Interface Coordinators (MIC), Shift Team Leads (STL) and Shift Superintendents.

The AMC is responsible for the daily workflow coordination of the execution, monitoring and continuous improvement of all executable work in support of the published maintenance schedule and identified emergency work. The AMC is responsible for E&I/RAB shop cleanliness and safety and provides leadership and coaching to the craft teams. This role is a key step towards NWR’s Maintenance and Turnaround Leadership succession paths.

Responsibilities :

  • Supports the execution teams sitewide to deliver the daily maintenance schedule;
  • Works directly with the Shift Superintendents, MIC’s and STL’s on emergency ‘reactive work’ needed to ensure safe reliable operation and alignment on deferred work;
  • Conducts audits of maintenance procedures and practices in their respective area;
  • Works directly with maintenance craft and resident contractors to resolve issues and ensure KPI’s are met and exceeded;
  • Participates in the weekly schedule building process for the Refinery;
  • Attends and participates in DILR meetings for maintenance;
  • Identifies overtime requirements in a timely fashion and informs Maintenance Area Leads;
  • Supports the training and progression programs, building depth with each craft;
  • Provides maintenance guidance and coordination to resolve plant emergencies;
  • Supports the EOC and on call rotation to support plant emergencies;
  • Works collaboratively with maintenance specialists and reliability groups;
  • Leads shop safety, FLHA audits and improvement initiatives;
  • Delivers regular weekly reports to NWR Maintenance Leadership;
  • Supports incident investigations in area of expertise and responsible for ensuring action items are completed, and lessons learned effectively communicated;
  • Ensures task and work order close out is happening daily;
  • Participates in the selection and recruitment of maintenance staff personnel;
  • Requires and encourage employees to report hazards, unsafe work practices, dangerous occurrences and all injuries, no matter how insignificant they may seem;
  • Supports Health and Safety Representatives so that prompt responses are given when safety issues are raised;
  • Assists with department audits and compliance;
  • Backfills Area Maintenance Leads & OMTs as required.

Requirements :

  • Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others;
  • Supervision experience leading a multi-disciplined team within an oil processing or refinery facility considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated track record in successful execution of maintenance activities;
  • Exhibits influential leadership abilities; Must be able to support decisions in line with the refinery philosophy and execution plans;
  • Possess excellent communication, observation, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the responsibilities to complete the task;
  • A demonstrable track record in successful Maintenance execution;
  • Knowledge of maintenance delivery methods, planning and schedule compliance;
  • Willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance;
  • Red Seal Certified;
  • Blue Seal, formal leadership training considered and asset.
