We are looking for an analytical and dynamic Assistant Controller to support the Controller in weekly accounting operations and to participate in month-end closing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly review of account analyses prepared by the accounting technician
  • Reconcile certain balance sheet items
  • Record accounting entries in the system, including complex entries
  • Analyze and comment on monthly results
  • Suggest improvements to current processes to support the company's continued growth
  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of various system reports
  • Assist the Controller in the preparation of the investors' financial report (KPI, reports and other financial indicators)
  • Assist the Controller in the preparation of annual tax documents
  • Prepare year-end files for the annual audit with external accountants with the Controller's help
  • Prepare various regulatory reports (GST-HST-QST, PST and US sales taxes)
  • Participate in the collection of accounts receivable as needed
  • Support the accounting team in daily activities
  • Review and approve supplier payments on a weekly basis, in replacement of the Controller
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with procedures
  • Support the Controller in various projects and requests.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • CPA professional designation or working towards it
  • Intermediate to advanced level of Excel proficiency
  • Ability to manage time and priorities and work within tight deadlines
  • Good aptitude for teamwork
  • Autonomy and thoroughness
  • Analytical mind, resourcefulness, and good professional judgment
  • Excellent command of French and English.

Assets

  • CPA professional designation or working towards it
  • Knowledge of Salesforce
  • Knowledge of NetSuite/Oracle
  • Good knowledge of Canadian and American sales taxes
